City of York Council

As part of the development of Simply Play a visit was made to York to meet with with representatives from City of York Council. Simply Play was put to the test by several assessors in three of York’s play areas. The response was as follows:

Mary Bailey – Head of Play and Young People’s Cultural Entitlement

“Simply Play will enable us to evaluate play beyond the physical possibilities experienced through play equipment.  We will be using it to inform the development of a range of resources.  These will promote play opportunities, to make best use of the play space as a whole, by considering landscapes, planting, trees and seasonal change.”

Dave Meigh – Head of Parks and Open Spaces

“The tool kit offers a new exciting way of viewing our green spaces. It goes beyond the obvious equipment based assessment, moving it into the realms of imagination and possibility that wider landscapes offer.”
